"Farm & Country" (2007)

From painting what most people consider the background machines of modern life that "townies" do not dwell on, the beasts of the field and tractors going to or coming from a hard days work, Trevor J. Brown found the process of trapping memories in oil and canvas from the farm he grew up on as natural and necessary an act as getting up in the middle of the night to help a cow calf. Trevor's painting style is not borrowed, taken or derived from another artist but naturally applied as straightforward as understanding that farm life as well as the farmyard itself is basically in the round.

In late Spring 2007 Trevor collected together around 40 paintings to hold an exhibition that was unlike any previous show, something had changed as noted by old friends who attended it's opening night, with hindsight the reason for this change was the passing of Trevor's dear father John, an irreplaceable presence in the majority of Trevor's Farm & Country paintings was absent and was being missed. Within his work it was time to move away from the familiar, for a while anyway, the bright afternoon sun that normally illuminated his paintings was now a last gasp fire behind the farmhouse, dipped in blue, night was falling over the fields and the dozy cows in heels.
